Jazzin’the Meditterean is another  thematic night  from our World Jazz Fusion series .This Friday. we will explore  Meditteranean music  together with some dances. We do hope that you will enjoy the show. Some  exciting melodic and rythmic  sequences  with  inspirations and influences from  Arabian, Spanish and even Rajasthani horizons ( according to  ethno-musicologists researchers, the source of Meditteranean music is Rajasthan.  Whatever the place or the influences..we will jazz through the Meditteranean this friday at Port Chambly this friday

Swing Brunch 29th May -Remembering Ernest Wiehe

Swing Brunch features pianist  Noel Jean and his quartet. Noel Jean was the pianist of late saxophonist Ernest Wiehe.Noel is very active on the jazz scene. His quartet is composed of the members of the( ex-)Ernest wiehe  Jazz Quintet. Also known as the “Tribute to Ernest Wiehe Quartet”  they often perform  arrangements of Ernest Wiehe but also original compositions and standards of the mainstream repertoire. Brunch with a swing or Swing Brunch, this sunday as from 11h30 am..Do not miss this if you are a listener of great music.

When Electro-Jazz meets Dance at Port Chambly – Friday 20th May 2011

This Friday 20th May 2011, The Dean Nookadu Jazz Trio by four will perform live with DJ KIV together with Nadine Ramsamy and her dancers in a Light  Show at Port Chambly Village from 7h30pm to 22hpm.

This show as one of its kind is quite exceptional. A Jazz ensemble performing live together with rythmic and motivic electronic effects of a  DJ on Jazz standards and original compositions or  A Jazz ensemble improvising on electronic beats of a DJ.  You would never imagine  how groovy and swinging  this music can be.  You will be thrilled with  the light show and the dancing style  of Nadine Ransamy who will propose a glimpse of the variety of her repertoire. Nadine Ramsamy is one of the best dancers of her generation. She studied Bharat Natyam and other dance forms  in  Kerala South India and has worked with some of the best choreographers in the world.. This Friday, Nadine will dance  with four dancers mixing free styles, street dancing  and some contemporary choreography.

World Jazz Fusion (Spicy) on Friday 13th May @ Port Chambly

 World Jazz Fusion is a spicy mix of wise  instrumentation to create exciting World Music. The influences are endless. From Celtic to Oriental Northern Indian with  a touch of American jazz and European Classical Music  including  a multitude of other sources  and inspiration.  On Friday 13th May, you will discover this new music labelled as World Music  but uncategorized beacuse of its uniqueness.  Here we are for this unique event at Port Chambly . A special evening of new sonorities and heart-felt feelings : Your favourite  Jazz Trio by four  together with  SWARIT.

SWARIT  when  translated from Sanskrit  means  “Knocking at Heaven’s door”. 

Master Uttam Durbarry, one of the most talented tabla players around  has accepted our invitation to participate in this fantastic music adventure with his ensemble-SWARIT

SWARIT  features  – Uttam Durbarry-tablas; Pravin Jahal-vocals; and Arvind Bhujan-sitar, three master virtuosos, skilled technicians but above all great master musicians.

Concert Review : Philippe Thomas, Marie Luce Faron and Neshen Teeroovengadum at Port Chambly

Sunday Brunch at Port Chambly with Philippe Thomas  and  the Dean Nookadu Jazz Trio by four performing in a quintet set up. No words to describe this moment of pure joy playing with trumpet Philippe Thomas. Nothing to say but to encourage you  to come at Port Chambly and  listen  to Phillipe playing medium swing and ballads. So profound. So pure. So rich.

His musical ideas are always comprehensive and every single note is like an important part of  some kind of refine jewellery. Philippe showed us his genius with his easy going trumpet soloing. Now when the tempi goes fast like  lightning, Philippe’s trumpet is astonishing, unbelievable…. You won’t be disapointed if you wish to find virtuoso level performance here in Mauritius,  and this happening is at Port Chambly. Watch out people… Something big has just started .

Marie Luce Faron and Neshen Teeroovengadum

Fantastic concert of Marie Luce Faron and Neshen Teeroovengadum last saturday at Port Chambly. Marie Luce showed , a deep sense of swing and a complete mastery of  ballads. Together with  outstanding and flawless guitarist Neshen Teeroovengadum, the guitar/voice duet has reached a high level of musicianship. We hope to see them again in a near future performing this repertoire which seduced the audience last saturday. Thumbs up. This is great music.

Great Swing at Port-Chambly Yesterday : Jazz/Blues and more with Eric Triton the 30th April 2011

Hello Folks,
We had a great performance yesterday night with Eric Triton at Port-Chambly village,Baie du Tombeau.

Great musical moment with a genuine receptive audience. Thank you all for your listening and support.

As from May 2011, our Jazz trio will perform regularly at Port-Chambly. In fact, we are the resident Jazz ensemble of this fantastic place and if you want to listen to live Jazz while tasting and discovering the delicacies of its exquisite and refine meals, we recommend for a state of the art magical evening. Check the local press or this site regularly for upcoming guests performing with us.

Next Saturday, on the 7th May , as from 8pm, Neshen Teeroovengadum, one of the finest jazz guitarists in Mauritius and great lady singer, Marie Luce Faron who is mostly reknown for her mastery of ballads will be our guests at Port Chambly. Nice Cool Jazz ahead with exciting colours that will make you swing like you’ve never before.
