Dean Nookadu and Friends at Caudan Waterfront

Hello,

Please find us in a live performance at  “Le Caudan” on Friday 19th December 2014 starting at 12h till 13h30.

Jason Lily, Yorshini Thondoo, Patrick Desveaux and Lespri Ravann

Affiche-PORGY@27oct-page-001A few friends have gathered together around us to sing  and play some of the Porgy ek Bess songs we made in 2013. These featuring friends who also appeared on the CD are Jason Lily,  Yorshini Thondoo and guitarist Patrick Desveaux . Please note that the three lead percussionists of Lespri Ravann – Kerwyn Castel, Kerty O’ Clou, and Samuel Dubois will also perform with us . They were the main percussionists on stage with us and we shared exceptional  musical moments together. This experience is beyond words. Now, this is for those of you who are looking for The Porgy ek Bess CD. The CDs are on sale at Power Music Shop at Caudan  and on the 19th December they will be made available to you .  Also note that a  working space  defined as l’atelier Ravann (not sure about the correct name though) has  been accommodated at  Caudan for the construction  and also exhibit of this national instrument. I think that you will be shown how to hold the instrument  and how to practice some basic rhythm too. Kerwyn , Kerty and Samuel  are not only fine players of the Ravann but also extraordinary makers of this instrument.

Yvette Dantier

Yvette Dantier will sing two of her own  compositions with us  . Yvette Dantier is a name that you will definitely  hear in a very  near future as one of the leading artist of this country.  Her songs bring a real breath of fresh air to the  music scene.

Kat Sat Jazz Quartet

And or those of you who missed our last concert at the 3rd  edition of the Ernest Wiehe Jazz Festival in September 2014, you will be able to discover our recent Kat Sat Quartet and line-up performing our latest compositions.Kat Sat

Cheers.

about Luminescence as performed at Anjalay Stadium on 12th march 2014

Hi friends,
This is a reply to a few recent posts about Luminescence, the song I wrote featuring Caroline Jodun as main vocalist.

Yes people two versions of this song exist. The song was initially commissioned to be performed at Anjalay Stadium on the 12th march 2014 national day celebrations. This original song is 8:03 mins long. Its about light within us. I wrote this song in a very short delay while fixed gazing at a candle flame. The song was written for Caroline Jodun who accepted to sing it.

The descending phrase played by the piano suggest a falling star or light while the Indian bamboo flute-Bansuri- is beautifully played here by Nel Bucktowar , Patrick Desveaux is on guitars – (semi acoustic and later  electric with distortion effects), Denis Serret on Bass and Christophe Bertin on Drums. Samuel Dubois and l’esprit Ravane on ravanes and other percussions. Arvin Buctowar takes the lead in hindustani after Patrick’s solo guitar in the second part of this song with Uttam Durbarry on Tablas while Nel plays the Bansuri with expressive answering motifs. No electric Sitar guys- only Patrick with guitar effects. Finally Roxane Lebrasse takes the lead of the last part of the song >Some nice vocal harmonies by Caroline and Roxane here remind us of gospel while Samuel Dubois and l’esprit ravane bring back the idea of sega typik of this island. I’m on all keyboard instruments.

The recording was made by Richard Hein at Kaprikorn Studios, Pereybere.

Listen to the song here by following this link. You can even download it for free if you like it.

Enjoy
